I liked this book. It was clever and easy-to-read. The story was unlike anything I had read before and I found myself easily identifying with the characters. Worth the read.
This was surprisingly interesting! It kinds of reminds me of a Hallmark Channel movie, not that there's anything wrong with that. Well written, original ideas, and uplifting. I'd recommend it.

It's been a few months and so I figured I'd get down to it.
This book is about what America used to be and what people used to think America was about.
The book is fascinating in that it very much deconstructs what it purports to be really about.
I don't think the author meant to do it on purpose but if he did, he is much more skilled than I thought I will re-read it again.
Essentially its about 'America' and what's happened to America if you were looking from the inside, looking from ground zero and Mr.Matt Shea perfectly captures the incomprehension of the characters in understanding what has happened to them and is happening to them..
The old ideas they hold onto have failed and failed miserably but their soldier on and in the major surprise in the book, which appears to be gift from God, actually is just more of the same unrelenting economic forces which have worn the town and it's people to mere nubbins.
The fact that the characters in the book don't grasp that and don't realize it's a downward spiral is heartbreaking and rendered perfectly by Mr.Shea; He is trying to show you what these characters feel and how they interpret their lives.
I commend Mr.Matt Shea for writing --for a novella-- a surprisingly deep character study of a town and it's value and what they mean in the modern world. This book would serve any book club quite well.
I highly recommend to anyone.
"Elmo" is a great story with old-fashioned family values. I discovered this book through meeting a new friend, Matt Shea. Once I started reading, I could not put the book down--literally. I finished it the same night. This is a great story of human compassion and kindness.
I look forward to reading more great stories written by Matt Shea.

This book personifies the economic problems of many people in our country today. The men of this Smalltown, USA, uses the only means open for them to help the whole community with their financial struggles. Matt Shea shows his love for storytelling by bringing out our emotions so we laugh and cry along with the characters in the story. I recommend this story to everyone who believes the old saying, "Where there is a will, there is a way".
Elmo is a fantastic story for all ages. It had me laughing, and crying. It is a story about small town USA coming together like a family and helping all that needed help. It's about putting others before yourself because it was the right thing to do. It is also the story about a young man coming of age and learning what it means to be all that you can be. I would highly recommend this book to anyone of any age to read this, and I know that most people will be able to relate to the people of Minor just as I did. It will make you realize that there is ALWAYS hope at the end of a dark tunnel. I can't wait to begin reading Matt's newest story which I have already purchased. Thank you Matt for such heartwarming stories and keep up the great work.
